ORDO-PromoTXTDecember 2013

The Ordo tells us that in December there is only one uniquely Vincentian Feast.

On December 10th, we celebrate the anniversary of the death of Blessed Mark Antonio Durando, C.M.  He was born in 1801 and served as a Vincentian priest in the Lombardy Region of Italy.  He was Visitor of the Province of Turin and known for his zeal in the preaching of missions and his availability as a spiritual director.  He encouraged the growth of the Daughters of Charity and founded the Nazarene Sisters.  Many thought of him as the St. Vincent of Northern Italy.  John Paul II beatified him on October 20, 2002. Mark Antonio, like Pope Francis, gave his heart to evangelization and the care of the poor.

This Advent we again pray, Come Lord Jesus, as we long to see the light of Christ more clearly.  May we share that light with others in our telling of the story and our service of the poor.
